A wise man has spent a lifetime commitment to help others. That gives him a greatest joy, fulfillment and satisfaction in life. He is also a true believer in the old adage – “What’s goes around comes around.”
This was reinforced on many occasions when encounter an old colleague, friend or acquaintance who reminds of how we inspired them, give them guidance or help them through hard times. This kind of experiences always motivate us to keep putting out good things in the world.
We never know in advance what good may come from the gesture we can put out there. Perhaps it will encourage, inspire, educate, motivate or actually change someone’s life. However, the people will always come away knowing that they cared about you.
In business as in life, all came to the people. These people are your customers, colleagues, employees, executives, managers, investors and suppliers. Success in your business depends on people you encounter. How you treat the people will have a significant impact on your bottom line.
Here are some ways to help the people in your organization and show them that they are important:
1 Providing incredible customer service.
2 Give a single parent the afternoon off.
3 Pay someone more than you need.
4 Send a handwritten note, to an employee acknomledging a job well done.
5 Loan a subordinated book that you have found to helpful.
6 Recommend someone to fight: “I want to help you succeed,” and mean it.
7 Stop by and talk without an agenda.
8 Share the resources you have found useful.
9 Create a safe space for openness and honesty.
10 Let the people tell how they feel, and listen to them without any intterupting.
Well, encourage youself to think about the people that you impact, the lives that you touch and the positive changes you can make. This is a true sign of leadership and I think it is more important than the money you make, the position that you hold or how big of your office.
You can do good while you are doing well. It may require you to think of new ways, but if you focus on helping others, you will be successful in a way beyond measure.
